Overview
We tested the Haibike AllTrack 7, a hardtail eMTB equipped with the powerful Yamaha PW-X3 motor and 720Wh battery, on a full-day loop through the Slovenian Alps. The route — starting at River Camping Bled, going through Bohinjska Bistrica, climbing to Uskovnica, crossing Pokljuka, and returning to Bled — covered 71 kilometers with 1352 vertical meters of elevation gain. The goal: to see how far this bike can go on a single charge, and how different assist levels affect range.
Rider Profiles
• Male Rider: 82 kg, 182 cm, size L
Regular MTB rider, rides 3–4 times/week with 500 m vertical per ride
•Female Rider: 62 kg, 172 cm, size M
Fit recreational cyclist, rides moderately on mixed terrain
Both riders used a combination of Yamaha’s assist modes to simulate a realistic day trip.
Assist Modes Explained (Yamaha PW-X3)

The PW-X3 motor offers all five modes, allowing riders to choose exactly how much help they want. For most of the ride, we stayed within ECO, STD, and HIGH, occasionally testing EXPW on steeper inclines.
Battery Performance Breakdown
First Leg: Bled – Bohinjska Bistrica (26 km, flat)
• Male Rider: Rode mostly in ECO (~100% support)
• Female Rider: Rode mostly in STD (~180% support)
•Battery drop: Minimal (around 10–15% used for both riders)
This section confirmed how efficient ECO mode is on flat terrain. The motor added just enough to make riding easy, without using much battery.
Main Climb: Bohinjska Bistrica – Uskovnica (14 km, 750 vertical meters)
• Male Rider: Mixed ECO and occasional STD for recovery
•Female Rider: Mostly STD, switching to HIGH (~280%) on steeper sections
• Assist usage: Moderate to high torque on climbs
• Battery status at Uskovnica (after 45 km total):
• Male: 83 km range remaining in STD mode
• Female: 79 km range remaining in STD mode
This climb showcased the motor’s power. Even with significant elevation, we both had well over 50% battery left, thanks to smart assist management and the large 720Wh battery.
Final Climb + Return (5 km more climbing, 250 m vert, then 25 km descent)
• Modes used: ECO or +ECO on gentle climbs; no assist needed on the descent
• Finish range (after 71 km, 1352 m vert):
• Both riders: ~30 km remaining in STD mode
👉 Key Takeaway: On a real mountain route with over 1300 m climbing, the AllTrack 7 still had ~30 km of usable range left — more than enough for most day trips.
Ride Comfort & Handling
Though it’s a hardtail, the AllTrack 7 surprised us with its comfort:
• 130 mm RockShox fork absorbed gravel and trail bumps with ease
• Geometry felt stable, especially on long climbs and fast descents
• Braking was reliable and smooth even on steep sections
• Handlebar layout and Yamaha Side Switch made assist control effortless
For riders spending multiple hours on the bike, this model provides a very balanced riding position, minimizing fatigue.
Motor Feel & Behavior
The Yamaha PW-X3 is quiet and strong. The motor responds naturally to pedaling input — the more you push, the more it gives.
• In +ECO and ECO, it helps you cruise efficiently without burning power
• In STD, the support is noticeable but not overpowering
• HIGH and EXPW give serious punch when needed, ideal for short climbs or technical segments
Unlike some other systems, Yamaha delivers consistent torque across cadences, which makes it predictable and enjoyable on varied terrain.
Battery Range Tips
Here’s how to get the most out of your ride:
• Use +ECO or ECO on flats or when riding casually – the range is impressive.
• Reserve STD for steeper climbs or longer efforts.
• Use HIGH or EXPW only when truly needed – these modes are powerful but drain the battery quickly.
• If you’re a heavier rider, you’ll naturally use more power on climbs – but the large 720Wh battery handles this easily.
Final Thoughts
The Haibike AllTrack 7 handled a demanding mountain route with confidence and comfort. Even after 71 km and over 1300 m of climbing, we still had plenty of battery left. The broad range of assist levels allows riders to tailor the bike’s support to the terrain and their fitness level. Whether you’re planning a casual day ride around Bled or a serious mountain loop, this bike is up for the job.
